The dance of the peacock - part 5

Morning to all....yup still experiencing problem with my internet line..hopefully this entry will go through...And congratulation to the Malaysian team....but pelik why don't i feel the same excitement sewaktu I menonton aksi- Harimau Malaya dizaman super Mokh..yup we won last nite...but I still have to find my excitement button...lol


Ok...lets going back to the peacock..sorrylah if this story tak habis2 lagi...but please bear with me....let's talk about peacock...other than the tail...one of the most challenging part is the wings...for the wings...I drew the outline of the pattern and pinned it on the side of a round polystrine...and then piped the pattern....let it dry than only remove..by the way...semuanya I gunakan Super Ice...it saved my life...it made my life very much easier...All in all I piped 6 wings...when actually I only needed 2 for the peacock...As for the side..I wish I could do the runout technique..but time didn't permit me to do it..or else I wouldn't be able to enter the competition..coz it would take at least about 2 weeks to get it perfectly dry in our Malaysian weather...I guess that's also one of the reason why people do not want to do RI work for the wedding cakes..it takes time and lots of kesabaran yg teramat sangat...


U guys must be thinking why did I do 6 wings when I only needed 2..and what did I do to the balance of the wings...Well I did use 2 of them for my peacock..but the balance didn't survive...4 of them broke sewaktu I nak cuba pasangkan ke badan...maybe some of u kata it was an easy job...well for this creation I always made sure I had plan B...if plan were to fail..then I would go to plan B..so masa hendak pasangkan the wings according to my plan A all 4 broke...yup all 4 and balance 2 and if these 2 last pieces broke..that would mean..i would be sending a cacat peacock..peacock without wings..Actually I was so bercita2 tinggi...my plan A was to pasangkan sayap2nya terapung ..no attachment to any base..but sebab no run out..the wings were fragile..so my munchkin suggested that..why didn't I attach the wing to the base completely..which made sense since I only left with two final wings...so it was either I had to lupakan my cita2 yg tinggi melangit tu..to have floating 3D wings..and attach the whole thing to the base OR go to the competition with a cacat peacock..Well..I had no choice...I wouldn't want to go to the competition with a cacat peacock..so finally the wings were completely attached to the base...that was my plan B...


Well hv to go now...lots of new projects waiting and I will update this blog as soon as possible...with lots of excitement ...I promise... ;)

Salam to all...sorry coz had to menghilangkan diri buat sekian lama...my internet line was hijacked by my kids..maklumlah cuti sekolah....tau2 aje my volume being all used up so the line became vry slow...so had to wait until the line is back to normal baru dapat access...so let us continue with the peacock...i'm sorry if this entry membosankan but i just nak documented my experience...a very expensive experience...only those yg faham sahaja yang akan dapat rasa the excitement...



Actually there were 6 peacocks in the competition and i didn't expect that...many people asked me..why did I choose to do a peacock? Well..I had no intention to do a peacock at all...what i wanted to do was to use all the skill and techniques that I learnt from Kelvin Chua's class...Infact masa dlm kelas KC lagi I dah terbayang nak buat something extraordinary for the competition using Royal Icing ...and since i know I do not know how to do extension work...he..he..he..infact until now pun I tak tahu mcm mana nak buat...So in my mind I nak buat something yg very intricate...so I decided to do a peacock..in my mind everything will be from RI piping work...all the bulu n the most important part was the tail....where it will be my master showcase..

for the tail..ada 4 sizes of feathers...and the design was my design..puas juga melakarkan design yg sesuai..it might look easy, but i had to make sure that every line touched each line..if not it would be really brittle...and of course the outline was using the runout technique...For the piping I used nozzle no 1 and it took me one whole week to finish the whole tail...Actually there were about 120pieces of the tail yg I buat..when actually i needed about 60pieces..had to double up coz takut it will break later on...Sakit tangan dibuatnya. Hopefully this won't scare u all to do the RI piping work...maybe sebab i silap technique or maybe sebab I stresses sgt..coz of mengejar masa...so after piping satu persatu kena biarkan about one week for it to be really dry before diangkat..and in my case i let it dry for two weeks...

The tail tidak dipasangkan dirumah...coz i would be really a long journey for this type of design and I'm sure it won't survive the journey if the tail dipasangkan dari Melaka...The tail dipasangkan di Tune Hotel Damansara..no choice...I had to find a place very near to sunway Giza where the competition was held...and all in all about 68 pieces were used for the tail..and by the way..dibawah kepingan RI I terpaksa gunakan kepingan fondant sebagai support...Frankly speaking I was so nervous about this design...all what I know was..this design had to work or else..i would not have anything to showcase for the competition...so I didn't want to take any risk..So all the pieces were glued with RI itself..and tell u guys..I broke lots of the pieces during the process..salah sentuh sikit pecah...salah letak sikit patah..tak bernafas dibuatnya sewaktu pasangakan kepingan ekor ni...but finally sipa juga...and ekornya melingkari keseluruhan kek...

Well..got something to do..ha..ha..ha..i'm trying something new now..let it be a secret for the time being ..but for those yg in my FB friendlist mesti dah dapat agak apa project terbaru I..until kita berjumpa lagi salam sayang and pada yg selalunya sibuk mencari azam tahun baru..selamat mencari...and by the way..azam tahun ni dah terlaksana belum? :P

Salam buat semua...well, it had been a tiring day...sepanjang hari menyiapkan cupcake..20 cuppies but mengambil masa sehari suntuk untuk disiapkan ..,tupun belum siap 100%..Maybe ada yg hairan..kenapa cupcake yg kecil tu mahal harganya...It's because...semakin kecil cupcake tu semakin rumit and leceh untuk membuat hiasannya...i'm talking about fondant cupcakes..not buttercream cuppies...if buttercream, i believe it will take much lesser time...Sebab tu personally I prefer to decorate big cakes....tak leceh and tak rumit...Just imagine nak mengulit satu persatu hiasannya....ooohhh memang memenatkan...20 cuppies with 20 different designs...walaupun begitu, I really enjoy doing it..I always feel guilty just to do simple design for my customer...Every customer is very special to me..so seboleh2nya I prefer to buat customize design..and one design for each customer...and setakat ni alhamdulillah..no repeat design lagi...

Ok, sementara ada kesempatan ni..let us forget about cupcake and sambung semula about my experience sewaktu Malaysian Wedding Cake Competition ..let us talk about the peacock...AS i had mentioned earlier..I wanted everything to be in 3D dimension...and had to be from royal icing..and di pipe dgn menggunakan nozzle no 1 sahaja...I was so determine to do it sehalus yg mungkin and kalau boleh nak saja gunakan nozzle no 0 or 00 but disebabkan kesuntukan masa terpaksa guna nozzle no 1. As for royal icing..I used superice and memang banyak superice yg digunakan in creating this peacock. As you can see..all the small feathers were glued to the body and tidak melekat dibadannya untuk menampakkan kesan 3D...Mesti ada yg nak tahu mcm mana nak buat benda ni...It's so easy..what u have to is to lakarkan template corak yg diingini diaas kertas...as for these feathers..satu corak sahaja I gunakan. Normally people will pipe the royal icing on grease paper...tunggu benar2 kering baru dicabutkan dgn menggunakan spatula yg paling halus....but I found a way which is much easier and less time consuming and less mudarat...ha..ha..ha..Less mudarat sewaktu hendak mencabutnya dari kertas..silap2 boleh patah ketika mengalihkannya..What I did is..I gunakan kepingan plastik..plastik transparent yg biasa dijual dikedai..tapi yg licin...So I tampal plasti tu diatas cake board...and letakkan lakaran dibawahnya...So pipekan aje terus mengikut corak lakaran kita..it will dry so fast and bila hendak dicabutkan lakaran tersebut..just pull away the plastic and it will take few seconds....less hassle and kurang risiko untuk patah. Rasanya hundreds juga I pipekan these small feathers..



Proses untuk melekatkannya ke badan adalah proses yg paling mencabar...coz it had to stand tidak boleh terus melekat kebadan. Kena tunggu benar2 kering baru buat yang lain..and silap sikit boleh patah...Seluruh badan burung was covered with these small feathers..and bahagian paling mencabar ialah dibahagian dada..coz had to ditampalkan mengikut alunan bentuk dada...bukan setakat tampal sahaja...biar nampak beautiful movement of the feathers..




Begitu juga dgn bahagian tengkuknya...setiap bulu dipiped satu persatu..dibiarkan kering and dicantumkan...but design untuk bahagian tengkuk lain dari design bulu badan coz had to sesuaikan dgn bentuk tengkuk yg panjang ...if buatkan bulat2 nampak hodoh pula kan...Actually sebelum buat the whole design for this peacock..I belek satu persatu gambar peacocks..study the pattern, the flows and etc..etc..etc.etc..ha...ha..ha..mcm king mongkut pula dlam filem King and I ..etc..etc...etc...etc...Ok sorry termelalut pula,..but I love that movie.


OK..back to peacock...Yup, lots of reseach on peacocks had been done for this project..and from there i baru tahu rupanya ada white peacock and it's known as albino peacock...So I guess mine can be called the golden albino peacock...Well have to stop..coz have to get ready for my wedding cake project pula... a combination of cleopatra and belly dancer ideas...till we meet again..tq for keep on visiting my humble blog..and try to enjoy what we are doing and be ikhlas in everything than only we can see good results..take care...

Salam buat semua..alhamdulillah diberi kelapangan sedikit untuk mengupdatekan blog ini...sewaktu menghilangkan diri buat sementara waktu ada ramai yg bertanya kenapa tak diupdatrekan blog..and that kind of questions really make my day..and ada yg cakap they love to read my celoteh here..syukur alhamdulillah semuga ada diantara paparan disini yg dapt menghiburkan hati and juga memberi inspirasi kepada rakan2 especially to thosse yg baru hendak menjinakkan diri dalam dunia dekorasi kek...to be frank, my personal opinion..being a decorator won't make me kaya raya apalagi di Malaysia dimana ramai lagi yang tidak tahu hendak menghargai seni hiasan kek..to them a cake is still a cake walau macam mana dihiaspun..people sanggup berbelanja ratusan ringgit untuk hiasan hantaran yg mungkin kemudiannya akan dibuang begitu sahaja..but untuk membelanjakan ratusan ringgit untuk kek kahwin amat susah...my wish and maybe harapan kawan 2 decorator yang lain..semuga masyarakat kita makin menghargai hasil seni kami..setiap hasil kerja yg cantik dan lain dari yang lain memerlukan belanja yang tinggi dan juga perlu meluangkan masa yg lebih lama especially bila semua bunga2an dihasillkan manually...sedih juga bila kadang2 dimajlis perkahwinan celebriti terkenal..beria2 diperkenalkan siapa yg mereka pelamin, siapa yg mereka gaun pengantin mereka, siapa yg menyiapkan hantaran...but perasan tak..jarang benar or maybe tidak ada pasangan pengantin yang sudi mengwar-warkan siapakah yang bertanggungjawab menyediakan kek perkahwinan mereka..sedihkan..tapi tak apalah. Kepada rakan2 decorator jadikan lah ia sebagai cabaran untuk kita...kita tidak minta disanjung melangit or dipuji berbakul2 but cukuplah kalau waktu menempah mereka tak kata "takkan kek kahwin pun mahal"..yup itu lah hakikatnya..selalu pasangan pengantin mengimpikan kek yg cantik lain dari yang lain..but bila diberitahu harganya..kita pula akan disoal balik "kenapa mahal sangat"...well what to do ..itulah cabaran buat kita untuk meng"educatekan" masyarakat...



Well back to the wedding cake competition..as I had mentioned earlier ..I wanted everything to be 3D and very grand and majestic..so I decided to do a peacock..but the peacock mesti a very grand and proud peacock...but before I introduce my peacock..let me show part of the cakes first...keknya merupakan kek 4 tingkat..the height was very important for me to display the flows of the tails later on...semua bunga dibuat sendir..and since I was very short of time, I decided to do ribbon flowers..which is easy to do..all what u have to do is just to roll the fondant and potong panjang...maybe about 2 inci x 5 inci...kemudian dilipat dua memanjang..but make sure jgn tekan diatasnya..biarkan macam ada gelembung angin..and kemudian digulung sampai habis..so semasa penggulungan tersebut pandai2lah mengubah bentuknya and make sure jgn tertekan sampai flat pula..it's very easy. As for the color..mesti ramai yg dah dapat agak warna apa yang I akan pilih..yup..definitely gold..Ada yg tanya kenapa I tak pilih warna biru, hijau..warna merak..Hmm..I just need my artpiece to attract people's attention from far..and definitely gold and white are the best colors...By the way..actually from my readings...or maybe u all notice...we do not need lots of colors on wedding cakes...2 or 3 colors should be enough and if we decide to have more colors..the additonal colors should compliment the base color. So I guessed I used hundreds of these flowers..dari pada saiz kecil hingga saiz yg besar...penat juga tapi taklah sepenat buat kuntuman ros malas yang selalu I buat...ha..ha..ha...kiranya bunga ni memang amat sesuai dibuat sewaktu emergency or sewaktu kita dilanda sakit malas yg teramat sangat...ha..ha..ha...but janganlah asyik malas aje..sekali-sekala kena rajinkan diri...So seperti selalu..cake tersebut diairbrushkan dengan americolor gold sheen..actually everything was airbrushed...termasuk semua bulu2 peacock..well in order to produce beautiful things memanglah kena buat lebih kerja sikit...actually bukan sikit..banyak....



As for the cake board...I decided to draw feathers on it...Ha..ha..ha..actually ada cerita disebalik cake board ini...and let me share my secret with all of you..Actually my cake board was very uneven...just imagine..tak pernah i cover cake board jadi macam ni...macam tahu2 pula i nak masuk competition..berbagai2 dugaan yg datang...sedih betul tenguk cake board yg buruk...Presentation of cake board is very improtant for all cakes..tak kiralah samada untuk competition ataupun utk tempahan customers...my prinsip..beautiful cakes should come with beautiful cake boards..i really hate to see beautiful wedding cakes on original stupid ugly cake board yg dibeli dari kedai...if kita dah luangkan masa berjam2 and sometimes berhari2 untuk menghasilkan kek yg cantik..kenapa harus dicacatkan dgn cake board yg hodoh...cake board yg hodoh hanya akan mencacatkan hasil kerja kita...just imagine...kita berbaju kurung cantik..siap bersulam..berlabuci lagi...sikitpun kalau boleh kita tak nak ada kedutan dibaju kita...but bila tenguk kak kaki..kita hanya berselipar jepun...ha..ha..ha..some of u might think it looks funny...actually it looks very ugly...so hiaskan lah cake board kita dgn cantik..so berbalik pada cake board I yang dah cacat tu..puas I fikir mcm mana nak buat..then teringat pada Mitch Turner's creation....so base on that...I kata why not I applykan the same technique but my own drawing...so dilukiskan bulu2 burung as if sedang bertaburan...and hasilnya alhamdulillah..infact mendapat pujina dari judges..phew...so to decorator friends jgn panik bila ada kecacatan...mesti ada cara untuk cover semuanya..Guess have to stop here and to be continued soon with more excitements...taaa...salam kasih untuk semua...

The dance of the Peacock - ICCA WEDDING CAKE COMPETITION - part 1


Salam to semua..had been away for a very long time....busy with syawal projects, competitions, demos and orders...and juga menghadapi dugaan2 dari Allah...alhamdulillah, Allah has given me n my siblings the strength..and hopefully iman kami terus kuat untuk menghadapi segala dugaannya...Hopefully masih ada lagi yg sudi singgah di blog ini...Yup talking about competitions..I joined two competitions...cupcake competition in King Hin Melaka..my first ever competition..alhamdulillah was the champion..but it was a dissapointing competition..tak payah lah i beritahu kenapa...The second competition was the ICCA wedding cake competition..and I only had three weeks to prepare evrything...menggelabah juga dibuatnya coz all my friends dah bersedia sebulan sebelum....oh dear....but lega juga coz I already had something in mind..And apa ye?

Well..since this is my first national competition..i masuk bukan untuk menang ..I just wanna cari pengalaman since I know ramai senior decorators yg akan join..termasuklah my own sifu...Kelvin Chua from Vinism Sugar Art...among others are Shahril...Mad About Cake and my best friends in cake decorating world..Pualine Po Soo...student Calvin Mark, Mama Min...malaysian Debbie Brown.., Liew Man Kwan..the handbag queen, Louis Ng..a very talented young artist especially in novelty cake...tell you all..I was quite nervous actually...But I still wanted to do my best and I just wanted to suprise everybody especially my sifu with my creation...to me winning is not important..the most important thing is how my creation will attract the attention..it needs to be a creation with a WOW FACTOR...Definitely I had to do something different from others...something yg org tak akan buat...and it definitely couldn't be a normal wedding cake...it has to be something totally different..something crazy...and I know I was taking a risk...risk of people kata I gila...ha...ha..ha..memang gila pun kata munchkin I...



I chose Royal Icing as my main medium..and it had to be 3D...everything..tapi apa ye yg I nak jadikan 3D tu...it had to be something yg majestic...the whole thing had to be 3D..the only thing that came to my mind is a peacock...coz of the tail..and the feathers...and ideas of the tail I got it from my MIL's carpet..yup from a carpet...That's me..whenevr I nampak something yg cantik ..I memang really excited and always fikir how to apply on cakes...I just love beautiful designs...bila tenguk corak tu..terus bayangkan how I would do it...and the best thing was...I started to do my work right after sampai rumah my MIL's house ..and it was raya kedua...There was no raya for me..terus keluarkan my artblock, pencils and sciccors...org lain raya..I sibuk lakar idea for my cakes...Ha..ha..ha..bagus punya menantu....but my MIL was very supportive..kept on asking me the progress..I guess I'm a very lucky person...evry family members termasuk ipar duai were also excited about the competition...Maybe u all tak percaya...I was also busy doing all the cuttings for the tail cutouts dalam kereta while temankan my MIL beraya..we were on our way to Ulu Tiram to her brother's house..and thank God ..jalan jam waktu tu..first time in my life..i appreciate jam.......Well had to stop here..hv orders to prepare...will continue updating as soon as possible...with more excitement to share...salam sayang utk semua ;)

Kek lapis legit Indonesia for aidilfitri

salam to semua...have been busy with kek lapis for raya..by the way my cake lapis is indonesian kek lapis legit....it's very moist and tak berapa manis sgt..And memang i gunakan original recipe from one of the famous cake lapis gurus in Jakarta..and cuma modified sikit to suit with the local taste bud...

Anybody intersted can email or sms me...actually it had been advertised in FB but since tk semuanya ada dlm FB...walau sibuk mcm mana sekalipun masuk juga dlm blog ni...Ada lima perasa...prune, masam manis, rempah betwi, mixed fruit and choc..and it also comes in nice packaging box..sesuai utk dijadikan hadiah raya...and terdapat dlm 3 size...

Swan Lake with Master Kelvin Chua (Vinism Sugarart)



Salam Ramadhan to all my moslem readers, sisters n brothers...maaf diatas segala keterlanjuran kata or gurauan yg over...semuga ramadhan kali ini merupakan Ramdahan yg lebih baik dari yg lepas2 and semuga segala amal ibadah dilakukan dgn penuh keikhlasan...and waktu sahur tadi sempat lah juga ber"tazkirah" to my anak2...peringatn for myself actually...I told them that Ramadhan bukan saja takat tahan lapar and dahaga..kena jaga semua pancaindera...esp mata, telinga and mulut...SO for this month of Ramadhan less TV time for them..can only watch program tertentu sahaja...and it doesn't mean that they can watch an Indonesian drama yg berlatarkan lagu memuji Allah...diantara liriknya yg selalu I dengar..Allahhuakbar..Allah Maha Besar..bila dengar lirik tu mesti kita sangka yg plot movienya pun bercirikan keislaman...nope..this movie penuh dgn adengan yg tk sepatutnya ada dlm sebuah keluarga islam..pergaulan bebas..berpelukan n the worst thing pakaiannya semua sexy...maybe penerbit ingatkan kita penonton bodh yg boleh dibodohkan begitu sahaja...Told them to jaga mulut juga...jgn cakap benda yg tak baik..jgn bergaduh especially. As for telinga , tak boleh dengar bend yg tak baik....straight away my smallest daughter tutup kedua telinganya..when I ask her why...selamba aje dia jawab..."kan ibu suruh tutup telinga"...duhh..gitu pula fahamnya...Well, apapun marilah kita semua berazam utk menjaga ibadah puasa kita dgn sebaik2nya dan semuga ia berterusan hingga selepas Ramadhan..

As I had promised in my previous entry, this entry will be about my royal icing class ...The Swan Lake taught by Kelvin Chua...a very talented artist in cake decorating...I guess ...maybe he is the best local artist. All of his works are very different..tenguk sahaja dah tahu...it belong's to KC..His creations are so unique and detail...pls do visit his blog..which is under my listing..Vinism Sugarart and definitely u will be amazed with all his creations...By the way, dia baru aje balik dari London..segala ilmu diperolehi dari London..This swanlake class cost me RM999 but memang berbaloi..tak ada regret pun. His class was super excellent and to those yg serious in cake decorating can consider going for his class..banyak petua and panduan menghias kek yg diajar ..memang berbaloi sgt..



As the title said...it is a swan lake class..so mesti ada swan ...and sepasang pula..sp this is the 3rd version of my swan..and different technique...teringat pula kata2 KC..these swans can only be found in France during summer at one particular lake...well..that was his joke...yup...the class were full with laughters..Senang aje nak buat swan ni...cuma just to make sure nampak flows of the wings n yg paling distinguish sekali lehernya...It has to be properly bentukkan..or else it will jadi leher itik yg panjang.


This class is all about royal icing piping techniques..2 days intensive class..and we were thought from the basic to advance techniques..and utk class project kami diajar untuk construct gazebo from scratch..just bayangkan hanya dgn menggunakan royal icing dan nozzle no 1 we were asked to dirikan sebuah gazebo..mcm impossible kan..but tak mustahil....bila siap hasilnya memang terpegun...but sebelum tu all the hardwork first..In order to construct this gazebo..we had to study the binaan and sokongan first..siap dgn dasar and tapaknya...semua plan harus dilukis satu persatu...dari tapak...dinding and atapnya..and setiap lakaran mestilah diukur dengan teliti...ha..ha..ha..itu theory...in the class we were given all the layouts and plan...everything was done by KC...Sebelum mula lukis lakaran dgn super ice...we have to gam kan satu persatu kertas surih diatas lakaran yg hendak dilukiskan...and then only we piped the super ice on the top of it..and make sure kertas yg digunakan adalah kertas surih/parchment paper yg elok or else susah hendak ditanggalkan...which mean hasil kerja kita akan mudah patah bila hendak ditanggalkan. Proses lakaran dgn superice senang sahaja, tetapi mengambil masa untuk kering...in our weather normally it takes about two weeks to dry...so dari gambar diatas u can see satu persatu binaan gazebo..semuanya merupakan kepingan gula kering and very2 fragile.


Selepas semuanya kering, barulah kepingan2 yang terlalu fragile tersebut boleh dicantumkan ..memang kena handle very nicely...pada mulanya rasa memang macam mustahil..but ibarat kata..bersatu teguh..bercerai roboh...sebenarnya bila sudah dicantumkan ia akan menjadi structure yg "kuat"...Teknik percantumannya harus dilakukan dgn penuh berhati2 and dilekatkan dgn menggunakan gum glue dari super ice juga...



Memang excited bila gazebo dah siap...semua "lubang" harus ditutup dgn royal icing melalui hiasan tambahan so tak nampaklah sebarang kecacatannya...yup memang begitulah dlm dunia hiasan kek..jgn takut or panik bila terdapat sebarang kecacatn..gunakan kreativiti kita utk cover sebarang kecacatan yg ada...just do not panic...


Actually dlm gazebo ni I plan to buatkan pancuran air..but the thing is..tak sempat kering..so letakkan seekor butterfly kecil...Actually banyak kepingan sturcture i yg tak sempat kering...ha..ha..ha..ini semua disebabkan I was down with bad flu..infact waktu my first class...50% of the time I was sneezing non stop..habis aje class..terus tidur dlm kereta..and sampai sahaja diMelaka terus pergi klinik...And ditambah pula dgn satu projek "istimewa" I yg harus disiapkan..I will post it right away after this entry...special project yg menggunakan teknik piping royal icing..practical..tapi buat benda lain..bukan buat homework....



So here are the pictures of my swan lake project...notice the 2 big butterflies...semuanya dibuat dgn royal icing sahaja...and subhanallah memang cantik sangat..dah tak lagi terfikir nak buat butterfly dgn menggunakan mould...


And these are hasil kerja semua student...and also a group photo...KC is the only guy in the picture..and mesti ramai yg kenal dgn Mama Min yg memang famous dgn naughty cakes and figurines alaDebbie brown..she is the one yang duduk paling kanan sekali....a very fun and bubbly lady...sedikit pun tidak sombong...and gambar ini diambil di class kami iaitu studio Mama Min di Damansara Perdana..a very lovely and homey studio..wish that one day i will be able to have a studio like this...


Well..my hasil tangan tidak dibawa pulang ke Melaka..if u guys go to Mama Min's studi..my artwork is being displayed there...All in all..it was an exciting class...and by the way..mesti ramai yg nak tahu..berapa harga kek yg begini...mesti terperanjat..one tier cake like this is priced RM1000..due to the intricate work..bukan senang nak buat....ambil masa..and kena banyak2 sabar...Akhir kata...semuga ramadhan ini bukan ramadhan yg terakhir buat kita dan semuga amal ibadah kita lebih baik dari tahun yg sudah2...and ingat..puasa bukan setakat menahan lapas dahaga...semua anggota kita harus berpuasa juga...sampai jumpa lagi dilain entry..semuga iman kita bertambah pada bulan yg tersangat mulia ini...amin

The wedding gown - a beautiful cake for a beautiful sister


Salam to all...life is so busy right now....with my kek lapis project, my royal icing class with Kelvin Chua and at the same time diserang demam...few days pengsan but alhamdulillah dlm demam dapat juga buat this special cake...

This special cake is inspired by wedding gown design..I just love to look at wedding gowns...so cantik and feminin sgt...and lagi satu the most special thing about this cake...I didn't use any single cutter and mould....everything was hand made...and the second tier was decorated with royal icing...it was a very painstaking work..but the result was so wonderful and cantik....By the way..this cake was specially done for cik andam Erin..opss no more Cik andam..Puan Andam Erin....sudah naik darjat...;) The best thing about this cake...it was ordered last year...somewhere in November..masa Puan Erin placed the order...I gelak saje coz lama sgt..but time did fly very fast....akhirnya sampai juga saat dan ketikanya...but malangnya...few days before the preparation...I diserang demam..3 hari tk bangun...and the worst thing..sebab nak baik cepat untuk buat kek ni..i ambil ubat terlalu banyak..overdosed akhirnya..and on the 3rd day...I "lost" my hearing sight...was so panicked..just imagine tidak boleh mendengar..masa tu barulah terfikir...selama ni I just take for granted dengar nikmat Allah...but alhamdulillah now dah pulih dah...so jgnlah cuba2 nak makan ubat lebih..konon nak cepat baik...jadi lain pula akhirnya.

so back to the cake..Dari hari Erin order lagi dia dah beritahu I kek kahwin impiannya...ha..ha..ha...terlalu banyak impiannya...first impian...kek senget...lepas tu tukar pula...kek pastel colors...lepas tu tukar lagi...polka dot cakes...warna pink, biru and choc....ha..ha..ha...everythime dia tenguk wedding cake I..mesti ada aje design lain...but finally..it was up to me to decide everything...Actually when someone place the order..I prefer them to bagi tahu I the color theme and konsep yg mcm mana mereka berkenan...tu saja...and please no pictures of kek org lain, coz I prefer to do my own design..bukan nak sombong tapi ada sebabnya....I don't like to copy other people's work...and I love to experiment with things..so if customer dtg siap dgn gambar...it will kill my design mood...it's not my work then..it will limit my creativity..macam copy paste aje...but alhamdulillah...so far my customers are very alhamdullillah..tak cerewet and serahkan semuanya pada I..but my promise...InsyaAllah I will deliver beautiful cakes for their special day.

As for Erin's cake..as i had said...the idea was based from a wedding gown concept..so dlm kepala terbayang a white cake with hiasan yg halus dan juga ropol2 gown with beads..To me the second tier is the most special tier..u will know why soon and mengambil masa setengah hari untuk siapkan designnya....the second tier is my first time menggunakan royal icing...and menggunakan nozzle number one PME..mesti ramai yg nak tahu..mcm mana i boleh dapatkan hasil kerja yg begitu halus...oops lupa pula...a week before i did this cake..I attended a royal icing class taught by Kelvin Chua...can check his website kat tepi blog I..Vinism sugarart...He is a gifted cake decorator..just got back from London...an excellent master...I attended the swan lake class...insyaAllah after this entry I will update with my masterpiece from the class...and you guys will be amazed.....during the class I dah terbayang yg I nak buatkan design menggunakan royal icing for Erin's cake..


So here it is..the second tier decorated with royal icing design....the design was done freehand...he..he..he...kes malas nak lukis atas cake....Basically, I wanted the design mcm lace..mesti halus...and penat nak buatnya jgn cakap..The royal icing was piped straight onto the cake...penat tangan memicit piping bag. Mesti ada yg nak tahu..my royal icing recipe...Well...actually I gunakan royal icing powder..or known as Superice keluaran Laped dari Itali...so what's the difference dgn royal icing yg biasa...banyak advantage guna Superice....First of all..tak payah nak sukat ingredient....just agak2 banyak mana yg kita nak gunakan...masuk dlm mangkuk and straight away bancuh...teenguk consistency yg kita perlukan..samada untuk piping or runout..if terpekat, campur air..if tercair campur super ice sehingga sampai pada tahap consistency yg kita perlukan...kita hanya bancuh apa yg kita perlukan..If ada lebih simpan sahaja..ia tak akan basi...If kering masukkan sikit air. By the way, tak perlu guna mixer untuk bancuh...cukup setakat satu mangkuk and sebatang sudu. The best thing about this superice...it's very fine...tak akan tersekat kat nozzle...As for this project, I used nozzle number 1..PME..which i think is much better than Wilton...



I really love working with royal icing..it's so easy to use....and bermacam2 benda yg boleh dilakukan dgn royal icing..u will see the greatness of royal icing on my next entry..my swan lake project..As I mentioned earlier...I gunakan nozzle number 1 and had no problem of the icing being stucked ...the flow was just superb..



The patterns yg I gunakan pelbagai..coz I wanted to make sure nampak mcm real lace..and utk tambahkan seri, I hias dengan edible beads..pearl, Ivory and black...semuanya edible which were bought from Cake Connection KL. By the way for those yg diMelaka..u guys can get the superice from KingHin...I straight away inform Mr Lim about Super Ice and suggested to him to bring it to Melaka market..he..he..he senang ..tak payah nak gi KL utk dapatkan supply. By the way, for those yg duduk KL..u can get the super ice from Bakers choice in Setapak, Mama Min's Studio in Damansara Perdana...or Vanilla Pastry in Bangi



As for the 1st tier...I gunakan teknik lipatan...which is very easy to do....gelek fondant nipis...if nak cantik lagi gunakan another designed roller...then lipatkan..mcm lipat kain...lepas tu terus tampal pada cake..By the way, before that the cake kenalah balut dgn fondant dulu. After dah disusun lipatan tu..i buatkan ikatan riben..biasalah wedding gown mesti ada riben...ingat tak masa kecik2..if lukis baju pengantin or princess gown mest ada banyak riben. Untuk tambahkan serilagi..gown pengantin mesti ada beads...so I lekatkan edible beads sebagai hiasan..



For the top tier..teknik yg sama juga...cuma ikatan ribennya dibahagian bawah..bahagian atas ni seolah2 penutup dada pengantin...so i just want hiasan yg simple aje..


So finally ...the whole "wedding gown"..and seperti biasa tier separators done by my darling munchkin...and he had chosen lace ribbon yg seakan2 sama dgn my design concept....he is really good...Oops lupa pula..the whole cake diairbrushkan dgn pearl sheen even utk tier yg kedua...





The cake was sent to ERin's place..and was so happy that the whole family love the cake...yup..memang I merancang untuk beri Erin something special for her wedding...and this is my special gift for her...ha..ha..ha..I mean the design...teringat pula bait2 puitis dlam one of my favorite writer's novel ...bunga yg cantik adalah untuk org yg cantik....so this beutiful cake is for someone beatiful..not only dari paras rupa..but beautiful heart also...she is indeed a very beautiful sister..thank you Erin for all what u had done for me..tq for yr support and thank you for yr words when I am in my down mood...love u..mmmuahhh...




Last but not least to Erin and Shafiee...selamat menjalani kehidupan berdua..and always remember each of u adalah penyokong untuk yg lagi satu...sabar dlm menghadapi
segala ujian rumahtangga..and sentisa berdoa supaya sentiasa bersama hingga ke jannah...By the way...thank you for the warmth hospitality from yr family Datuk Yahya and Datin Rozana...glad that aunty loved the cake...salam utk aunty. Bila hati telah luka...


Salam buat semua...semuga semuanya berada didalam lindungan and rahmat Allah..and sekarang kita sudah melangkah ke bulan Syaaban...and after this is Ramadhan..sekejap sahaja masa berlalu..semuga kita semua sempat untuk meyambut kedatangan Ramadhan..bulan yg penuh kemuliaan..pada yg belum habis ganti puasa lagi jangan bertangguh..tinggal tak berapa hari shaja lagi..Well...kali ni, I,m going to present a very special cake...actually dah lama dah buat cake ni..but entahlah kenapa..hati ni berat sgt utk uploadkan hasil kerja ini lebih awal..mungkin Allah hendak merungkaikan sesuatu...and Alhamdulillah, I thank Allah coz merungkaikannya semuanya. Tajuk entry diatas tiada kena mengena dgn kek ni...cuma that's how i feel now....So, in this entry I do not want to comment banyak2...coz khuatir I will be really sad...sedangkan kek ini dibuat dgn penuh istimewa and banyak waktu yg dikorbankan ..I was really excited with this project...and idea utk buat design ini berinspirasikan dari karya Kerry Vincent..my biggest inspirator dlm kek decorating...hopefully one day I can be like her...






This cake is fully fondant covered, tiga tingkat...and everything was stacked together...the first tier..hiasan semuanya dibuat manually...satu persatu...but since this cake is very special..tak terasa kepenatannya..and memang I want something very elegant for this cake...setiap lingkaran love tersebut dibuat two days in advance..dikeringkan betul2 and diairbrushkan dgn gold sheen..by the way..it was a gold and white theme..Bila dah kering dilekatkan satu persatu...and dihiaskan dgn edible pearl..bought from Cake Connection in PJ. By the way..cake board dicover dgn fondant ..



As for the 2nd tier..I guakan a pecial rolling mat...bought from CC..and di hiaskan dgn royal icing putih utk menaikkan serinya...Oleh kerana jarak penghantarannya dlm melaka sahaja so kek ni distack kan awal2 lagi dari rumah...and dihiaskan dgn pearls..



Untuk tingkat yg ketiga..memang dibuatkan kek ini tinggi..about 5 inch tingginya..dan dihiaskan dgn gems ... I used my gem mould bought from SF..




Well..nothing much to say about this cake eventhough it was supposed to be the most special cake yg pernah I buat...it was done full with my love but it also bring sadness to me..and with that..let me end this entry...sometimes it's better to keep silence...sehingga berjumpa lagi...semuga semua urusan kita dipermudahkan Allah..
